I'm Michael Risse, and I'm the K-8 virtual SDC teacher at Learn @ Home. This is my 10th year teaching, and I have a firm grasp of special education across all subjects and grades.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from NAU and a Master of Science in Special Education from WGU. Having traveled the world and the seven seas, I bring a wealth of stories and real-life scenarios into my teaching, making lessons engaging and relatable.

I became a teacher because I loved teaching and wanted to improve society, one student at a time. Teaching brings me joy and a sense of belonging. Students are the lifeblood of my classroom, and I strive to keep all learning student-centered.

In class, we handle all conflicts with conversations, ensuring no one is ever in trouble. We are all learning, and mistakes happen, which helps students feel safe.
